Esmeralda is a young gypsy lady that illegally sneaks into Paris with other gyspsy girls in the movie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She befriends Quasimodo, the deformed adopted son of Judge Claude Frollo, in attempt to save herself and the other gypsies from the wrath of Frollo's men.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame was released on June 21st, 1996 in theaters. It premeired June 19th, 1996 at the New Orleans Superdome on six screens.
The movie was released for home media March 4th , 1997 on VHS and later DVD on March 19th, 2002 along with its sequel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2.
Esmeralda was once part of the Disney Princess lineup around 2002. She is no longer considered part of the lineup anymore.
She and Quasimodo are featured on Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
There is very few Esmeralda merchandise being sold today in stores. She has had several dolls, including The Festival of Fools doll, and one made exclusively for the Disney Princess label. Some of the dolls can still be purchased on ebay here. There are a few on Amazon too.See here.
