Megara is from Hercules, a 1995 film by Disney. She was based on a "40s screwball comedienne" says Ken Duncan. She is somewhat independent, telling Hercules at first she does not need his help. She is forced to work for the evil Hades, after selling her soul to revive a lost lover, who falls for someone else shortly after revival. Later she falls deeply in love with Hercules, but denies it to everyone. The muses bug her about it until Meg implies she does after all.
Hercules was released in theaters June 27, 1997. It was also featured in Disney On Ice before the release.
It was released for home media on VHS February 3, 1998. It was released again on VHS and DVD August 1, 2000.
A midquel, Hercules: Zero to Hero was released in 1998 before the TV series, which focuses on his enrollment in Prometheus Academy. It also features Hercules marrying Megara.
A video game called Hercules Action Game was released July 1997 for PC and Playstation. Meg also appears in Kingdom Hearts.
There is very few merchandise being sold for Hercules and Megara today. A few dolls of Meg can still be purchased on ebay and Amazon here and here.
